A Changing Educational World Brings New Hope

Wednesday, December 14th, 2011

As a result of internet, education as you may know it will be changed forever. An interesting survey stated that of all the college students signed up for classes, 1 in 4 had at least 1 web based course. The economy and environment are better off when people take online classes. Not only do students pay significantly less for their tuition, but they also save on transportation costs and materials. At a conference last year Bill Gates said that in the next five years universities will practically be worthless since the best lectures and presentations will all be available on the internet.

Khan Academy, which gives “a free world-class education for anyone anywhere,” even received funding from Bill Gates. Khan Academy has over 2,100 video clips that range from topics like simple algerbra to amortization. Where there is a will to learn, there exists a way; Khan Academy is exactly that. Now the two most important things to help someone get an education are access to the internet and the time to be able to dedicate for watching videos and doing work. Even though it might be a powerful and destructive force to society and the planet, the internet helps bring to pass great innovations in education and instruction. They have federal funding programs available for young students and minorities. To illustrate, they supply African Americans that can help them pay for their educational needs.

Poor people nowadays tend to be more capable of lifting themselves out from poverty and becoming successful professionals. People no longer need to leave their houses to attend a college or library since all of that same information is found from other laptop. All this explains the explanation for the current push to give 3rd world countries computers and internet access. The time period is coming soon when anyone can receive a quality education for under a few bucks. Some time ago, the only individuals that had the ability to get an education and enroll in college were the high-class families who not only had money but also power. Many things have changed in the past few decades, especially in the last decade.

The methods by which we educated ourselves have changed dramatically with the introduction of the tablet computer. The one thing a student needs to have an entire learning experience filled with videos and interactive games is a small device the size of a notebook. It is now possible to create and submit entire essays wirelessly, without having to worry about running out of ink or getting hand cramps. Education has changed more during the last couple years than it did in the whole twentieth century. Not enough people know about the changes in education and even fewer people are actually using them. Everyone that has access to the internet may use these tools but not enough people understand them.

Education has a bright future, just as those that can take advantage of the changes that are going on. Education is evolving for the better and giving everyone equal possibilities to learn and grow. Sadly, the opportunities that lots of individuals have in education aren’t being taken advantage of. Classes online unquestionably are the future of education, not just because they’re environmentally and economically friendly but also since they give their students flexibility.
